An Example of Healthcare Waste
The outrageous promise by Anthem to pay 293 “top executives” of WellPoint, the parent of Blue Cross of California, up to $356 million as “compensation” is just another example of the waste that has been tolerated in our healthcare system (“WellPoint Payments Face Scrutiny,” June 9).
Throwing away this kind of money on perks is immoral when it could be used on treatment.

If all health insurance companies were to function as nonprofit organizations, the reductions in health insurance costs would be dramatic.
Its obvious that greed is the driving force behind this out-of-control industry and steps must be taken to regulate it.
