Coroner Unable to ID Body Found in Whittier Riverbed

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a body found in the Rio Hondo riverbed in Whittier.

The body is that of a white man between 40 and 50 years old, 5 feet 5 and 120 pounds. He had several tattoos: a winged fairy on his chest, a rose with shooting hearts on his upper right arm, a small swastika on the left hand and the word “loco” on the left middle finger. There is also a scar on his stomach.

Body in riverbed -- A news brief in Wednesday’s California section said an unidentified body was found in the Rio Hondo riverbed in Whittier, near the Whittier Narrows Golf Course. That portion of the riverbed is in Rosemead.

The body was found June 4 near the Whittier Narrows Golf Course. He was clad only in a pair of blue-and-white boxer shorts. There was no wallet or identification. A coroner’s official said there were no obvious signs of trauma. An autopsy was pending.
