Nuclear Plant Tours Expected to Resume
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Public tours of the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant, halted after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, may soon resume.
The federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission is working with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. to find a way to restore visits without compromising security, NRC spokesman Victor Dricks said.
PG&E; spokesman Jeff Lewis said the utility was eager to resume the tours because “it helps demystify”plant operations.
It wasn’t clear when the tours might be resumed.
