R Pocketsfull Leads the Field

A mix of thoroughbreds and quarter horses will get together in tonight’s eighth race, a $6,250 claimer at 870 yards.

The field of seven includes four quarter horses and three thoroughbreds, two of whom are coming off victories.

Making his second start after being claimed by Craig Robertson for owners Dan Butcher and Grand Slam Racing, R Pocketsfull won going 4 1/2 furlongs on June 5 and will be shortening up a bit to 870 yards tonight. He also switches to jockey Guillermo Gutierrez, Robertson’s main man.

Cave Creek Queen, a 5-year-old Pembroke mare, has won two in a row and four of her last five.

Dutch Coin, Willies Golden Lamb, Sun An Silver, Expo Express and Ballys Fun Guy, who is also a thoroughbred, complete the field.

Shots in the dark: Sey Inca Proof debuts for trainer Chuck Treece in the fifth. Royal Nobleman is a first-time starter by Separatist for trainer Angie Aquino in the sixth.
