City Approves Allevato to Finish Gelff’s Term

Sam Allevato, a retired lieutenant in the Irvine Police Department and a San Juan Capistrano planning commissioner, was appointed this week to finish the council term of John Gelff, who died last month of heart failure. Gelff’s term would have expired in November.
Allevato, 56, has been a San Juan Capistrano resident for 27 years. He retired from the Irvine Police Department in 2002.
