Foreign literature

Share

Re Scott Timberg’s “In an Insular State of Mind” (Feb. 29): There are some of us who are fighting the good fight to bring foreign literature to the American reader.

For many years, my husband and I have translated and adapted French comics (graphic novels), which have been published by American companies such as Marvel and Dark Horse. Last year, we started a new company, Black Coat Press, with the specific intention of bringing French pulp fiction to an English-speaking audience.

We’re under no illusion that this is going to reach a Stephen King-sized audience, but we’ve been delighted to discover that there is a substantial audience out there who is as interested in these works as we are.
