Teen Held in Pepper Spray Incident
A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody after he apparently discharged pepper spray in his South Los Angeles classroom, exposing 30 students and the teacher to the chemical, police said.
Seven children were treated at hospitals for minor throat and eye irritation, authorities said.

Pepper spray -- An article in Tuesday’s California section incorrectly identified the school where a student discharged pepper spray as St. Michael’s Catholic School. The incident occurred at San Pedro Academy.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic School on West Manchester Avenue. The boy was found a short time later hiding in a nearby bush, police said. The pepper spray canister was recovered.
LAPD spokesman Jason Lee said the boy “was already on probation for prior criminal activity.”
The boy was placed in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall. He could face charges of assault with caustic chemicals.
