A 17-year-old girl was shot in the head and critically wounded by someone in a passing pickup truck on Interstate 805, authorities said.
The San Diego girl, whose name was not released, was a passenger in a truck being driven by her 19-year-old cousin about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said.
Their Chevrolet pickup was overtaken by a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup, which began tailgating them. The driver changed lanes to allow the Ford to pass and exchanged words and gestures with two men in the Ford.
