Without a Pass, It’s a Costly Adventure

Share

This land was your land.... It’s Sunday and they’re out in force: uniformed federal agents with guns and clubs dangling from their belts. Chasing down the lawbreakers, writing citations by the thousands. The lawbreakers? Mostly SUV- or van-driving dads and moms who have brought the kids up to goof off in the snow. We’re not talking about encroaching on developed snow parks here; we’re talking raw public land, pulling over to the side of the highway so the kids can throw some snowballs.

This reviled Adventure Pass was supposed to be an experiment. It makes unfettered access to public lands a federal crime. It’s been around for over seven years, and now it’s time to let our lawmakers know the “experiment” was a failure.
