Gas Plant Explosions Force Evacuations

Explosions shook a gas-distribution plant in suburban Miami, creating plumes of smoke and forcing evacuations in the surrounding area as fire threatened scores of gas storage tanks. Nobody was injured, authorities said.
The explosions at Airgas South Inc. happened as workers were unloading tanks, including flammable acetylene gas, from a flatbed truck.
