Gorilla Killed During Rampage Through Zoo
From Times Wire Reports
Dallas police shot dead a 350-pound gorilla that had escaped from its enclosure and injured three people at the Dallas Zoo.
“We were forced to put it down,” said police spokesman Danny Garcia. Garcia said two police officers fired at the gorilla when it charged them.
Zoo officials said the western lowland male gorilla, named Jabari, was 13 years old. They are investigating how it escaped from its habitat.
One woman and two children were treated for scratches and bites, police said.
