Wilson play set for 2005 at the Taper

The 10th and final installment of August Wilson’s series of plays about African Americans in the different decades of the 20th century will also mark the final production of Gordon Davidson’s last season as artistic director of the Mark Taper Forum.

Wilson’s “Radio Golf” is scheduled for August and September 2005 at the Taper. It’s the story of two 1990s real estate developers -- also golfers -- who plan to tear down the former home of Aunt Ester, the character who was played by Phylicia Rashad in Wilson’s “Gem of the Ocean” at the Taper last year.

The Taper will participate as a co-producing theater in the “world premiere production,” which will open at Yale Repertory Theatre in April 2005. After “Radio Golf” closes at the Taper, the first season designed by the Taper’s next artistic director, Michael Ritchie, will begin.
