From Times Wire Reports

Ten Russian soldiers were killed when a military truck drove out of a base in the town of Shali in Chechnya and hit a mine planted to deter a rebel attack, officials said.

Details were sketchy, with one account saying an officer took the truck without permission and another blaming two drunk soldiers for taking it. Russian forces are fighting their second war in the breakaway republic of Chechnya in a decade.
