Man, 50, Dies After Car Plunges Into Aqueduct
A 50-year-old Palmdale man died Saturday when his car plunged off Pearblossom Highway into the California Aqueduct, authorities said.
The accident, which occurred at 2:21 p.m. near Barrel Springs Road, was witnessed by several people who saw the PT Cruiser veer off the road, smash through a metal gate and sink into the water, said Los Angeles County fire inspector Ed Osorio.
The victim, who has not been identified pending notification of relatives, was pulled out of the aqueduct by a Sheriff’s Department dive team an hour after the crash, Osorio said.
