‘Thirteen’ was his lucky number

After his role in the hard-hitting drama “Thirteen,” Brady Corbet landed a part as the No. 1 son in a family of intrepid adventurers in the live-action adaptation of the vintage “Thunderbirds” television show.

An avid reader and fan of more esoteric films by directors such as Claire Denis and Greg Araki (with whom he just finished shooting “Mysterious Skin”), the 15-year-old felt out of place amid the boy’s fantasy world of a big-budget spectacular. “The first week of filming I felt like I had a secret,” he says, “and they were going to find out. ‘Look, I’m not the guy.’ Then I got more comfortable. The size and scope of those sets was so scary, to have something that took up an entire sound stage built for you. That took a little adjusting. Honestly, I don’t know I ever did.”
