MLS Move Jumbles Schedules

Major League Soccer changed the date of its 2004 All-Star game Thursday, from July 24 to July 31, and said the match would be televised live on ABC.

The league has not yet announced the venue or the opponent for the game, but it is believed that Real Madrid will be involved and that the game will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.

MLS also had to switch league games scheduled for July 31 to July 24.

The Galaxy announced two schedule changes. The July 31 match against the Kansas City Wizards will be played at 7:30 p.m. on June 5 at the Home Depot Center.

The Galaxy’s match against the Wizards scheduled for Aug. 17 in Kansas City, Mo., will now be played on July 24 at Arrowhead Stadium.

Former World Cup winner Franz Beckenbauer told German television that Bayern Munich Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld might leave the club at the end of this season rather than next season and that VfB Stuttgart Coach and former German international Felix Magath was the preferred candidate to take over at Bayern Munich.
