Missing Hiker’s Pack Is Found
Rescuers found a backpack belonging to a teenager missing for nearly a week on Mt. Baldy, authorities said Saturday.
Evgeniy Lushevskiy, 19, was last seen Oct. 31, when he hired a cab to take him from a friend’s home in Claremont to the mountain. He stopped twice to buy food and clothing along the way.
Lushevskiy, a Russian native, was visiting Southern California with his family, authorities said.
A friend who lent Lushevskiy the backpack identified it Saturday as hers.
The search was continuing through Saturday night.
