Valley Is Not a Bastion of Conservative Voters

Share

According to the election returns, the San Fernando Valley voted 65.2% for John Kerry, more than L.A. County at 62.9% and more than the state at 54.6%. In fact, the Valley gave a higher percentage of its votes to Kerry than all but six of the 58 counties in California.

During its independence movement, the Valley was characterized as a bastion of white, rich conservatives. That was untrue and is again resoundingly refuted by the facts. Shame on all those who trivialized a legitimate effort by the Valley and for insulting Valley residents. You know who you are. If we want honesty, candor and fairness from our elected representatives, let’s start here, in L.A.
