Paterno Plans on Returning
Joe Paterno ended his 39th season Saturday as Penn State coach and said he planned to return for a 40th.
The Nittany Lions, with four touchdowns in the third quarter, routed Michigan State, 37-13, giving Penn State (4-7, 2-6) a second consecutive conference victory.
Paterno made it clear during a postgame interview that he planned to return.
“Have I ever said I wasn’t? Is that wishful thinking?,” said Paterno, who turns 78 next month.
The loss eliminated Michigan State (5-6, 4-4) from bowl consideration. The Spartans play Dec. 4 at Hawaii.
