Boise State Routs Louisiana Tech as Win Streak Reaches 21

Jon Helmandollar rushed for a school-record five touchdowns, and No. 13 Boise State clinched at least a share of its third consecutive Western Athletic Conference title with a 55-14 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday at Boise, Idaho.

Boise State, which improved to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference, extended the nation’s longest win streak to 21 games and tied Brigham Young’s record for the most consecutive conference wins at 25.

Jared Zabransky threw for 317 yards and a touchdown for Boise State.

Running back Ryan Moats -- No. 2 in the country, averaging 164.2 yards -- was held to 60 yards in 19 carries for Louisiana Tech (5-6, 4-3).

In other WAC games: Jordan Palmer threw for 339 yards and five touchdowns and No. 24 Texas El Paso (8-2, 6-1) rolled to a 57-27 victory over Southern Methodist (3-8, 3-5) to clinch a bowl berth in Coach Mike Price’s first season. The win puts UTEP in only its third bowl game since 1967 and first since 2000.... Wendell Mathis rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns and Bryson Sumlin had 147 yards and a score to lead Fresno State (7-3, 4-3) to a 54-17 victory over visiting Nevada (5-6, 3-4).

WEST

Antwan Applewhite returned a fumble 36 yards for a touchdown and Blake Lobel returned an interception 13 yards for a touchdown to lead San Diego State (4-7, 2-5) to a 21-3 victory over visiting Nevada Las Vegas (2-9, 1-6) in a Mountain West Conference game. It was the final game as coach for UNLV’s John Robinson, who is retiring.... Shaun Carney threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns, and Air Force (5-6, 3-4) scored four touchdowns in the second half to turn a close game into a 47-17 rout over Colorado State (4-7, 2-5) in a Mountain West game at Air Force Academy, Colo.... Adam Martinez ran for a touchdown and caught one to lead Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (9-2) to a 58-13 nonconference victory at Sacramento State (3-7).

EAST

L.V. Whitworth ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 19 Boston College (8-2, 4-1) took another step closer to its first BCS berth with a 34-17 win over Temple (2-9, 1-5) in a Big East Conference game at Philadelphia. If Boston College defeats Syracuse next Saturday, it would clinch the BCS berth.... Aaron Polanco ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, and Navy (8-2) used a 40-point first half to cruise to a 54-21 victory over Rutgers (4-6) at Annapolis, Md.... Darrell Hackney passed for 199 yards and two touchdowns to lead Alabama Birmingham (7-3, 5-2) to a 20-14 win over Army (2-8, 2-6) in Conference USA game at West Point, N.Y.... Freshman Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 145 yards as Marshall (6-5, 6-2) held on for 31-21 victory over Western Michigan (1-10, 0-8) in a Mid-American Conference game at Huntington, W.Va.... Ricky Williamson scored on a 100-yard interception return to help Harvard (10-0, 7-0) to a 35-3 victory over Yale (5-5, 4-3) at Cambridge, Mass.

MIDWEST

Luke Clemens and Brandon Murphy combined for 230 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead Miami of Ohio (8-3, 7-1) to a 37-27 victory over Akron (6-5, 6-2) to give the RedHawks their second consecutive MAC East Division championship. Miami will play for the conference title Dec. 2 in Detroit.... Garrett Wolfe rushed for 325 yards in 43 carries and scored twice as Northern Illinois (8-3, 7-1) rolled to a 34-16 victory over Eastern Michigan (4-7, 4-4) in a MAC game at Ypsilanti, Mich. For Northern Illinois to reach the MAC title game, it needs Bowling Green to defeat Toledo on Tuesday.... Gino Guidugli completed 30 of 36 passes for a career-high 377 yards and three touchdowns to lead Cincinnati (6-4, 5-2) to a 45-23 victory over South Florida (4-5, 3-4) in a Conference USA game at Cincinnati.

SOUTH

DeAngelo Williams rushed for 225 yards and four touchdowns, and Steven Gostkowski made a 35-yard field goal with six seconds left to give Memphis (7-3, 4-3) a 38-35 win over East Carolina (2-8, 2-6) in a Conference USA game at Greenville, N.C.

SOUTHWEST

Stefan LeFors threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns and Eric Shelton rushed for three more scores, leading No. 8 Louisville (8-1, 6-0) to a 65-27 win over Houston (3-8, 3-5) in a Conference USA game at Houston.... Brandon Hassell rushed for three touchdowns as Texas Christian (5-5, 3-4) kept its postseason chances alive after a 42-17 victory over Southern Mississippi (5-4, 4-3) in a Conference USA game at Fort Worth.... Kole McKamey scored on an 80-yard option run in the third quarter to key New Mexico (7-4, 5-2) to a 16-9 victory over Wyoming (6-5, 3-4) in a Mountain West game at Albuquerque.
