Richard Avedon stricken in Texas
Fashion photographer Richard Avedon lay in critical but stable condition Thursday after suffering a brain hemorrhage last weekend while on assignment in Texas, a spokeswoman for the New Yorker magazine said.
Avedon, 81, was hospitalized in San Antonio, where he was shooting for the magazine when he was stricken, said spokeswoman Perri Dorset. She had no information on a prognosis for the photographer once cited as one of the 10 best in the world.
He was in Texas as part of a New Yorker piece titled “On Democracy,” which he was shooting for months. The photo spread included shots of politicians, delegates and citizens from around the country, and will run before the November election, Dorset said.
