An East Coast sense of glam

Hollywood morphed into the Lower East Side last Thursday, when the New York Dolls blew into town and glammed up the Avalon nightclub. Among the music fans who turned out to hear such classics as “Personality Crisis,” “Jet Boy” and “Trash” were Rodney Bingenheimer, rocker Glenn Danzig, and members of the Skulls, the Horribles and Ze Auto Parts. Original NYD members David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain paid tribute to the band’s late bassist Arthur “Killer” Kane, as well as drummers Jerry Nolan, Billy Murcia and guitarist Johnny Thunders. R.I.P. (rock in peace). We also hear the original glamour boys shopped at the Serious store on Melrose before the show, and Johansen sported his new duds on stage.... In Sin City news, Paris the Heiress was spotted Sunday night nuzzling with her latest flame Simon Rex at Body English, a Vegas nightclub run by Hollywood heavy Brent Bolthouse.

Daddy’s duty

Rod Stewart checked out Whitestarr at the Key Club last Thursday night. Turns out his lovely daughter Kimberly is dating Whitestarr singer Cisco Adler.... Yer Cheat’n Heart, a tattoo parlor near the Hustler Casino in Gardena, celebrated its opening with a good old punk-rock hoedown Saturday, complete with skating in the pit. Such bands as Instigator, Dive Bar Junkies, F-Loder and PKG performed.... In the tradition of the Pussycat Dolls and the Toledo Show comes Harlottique, a sexy striptease show at Pearl on Wednesdays. Each week, the WeHo nightclub is transformed into Big Al’s Speakeasy, as barely clad dancers backed by jazz musicians celebrate the provocative art of burlesque cabaret.... In Echo news, the monthly trash and glam club, Dragstrip 66, goes totally Goth on Saturday, with this month’s theme, “Groovy Gothic Ghoulfriends.” ... And the date for the Knitting Factory show by Oakland-based rockers the Phenomenauts is Oct. 19.
