Soprano Deborah Voigt withdrew from the Vancouver Opera’s first production of Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier,” which was to have been her role debut as the Marschallin.

In a statement, the Vancouver Opera said: “Ms. Voigt’s personal representative stated that ‘Ms. Voigt was stretched too thin and exhausted. Like many people in Florida, her personal life was unsettled by the recent hurricanes and the subsequent interruption to her schedule left her unable to complete her personal preparations.’ ”

Voigt, who lives in Vero Beach, Fla., will be replaced by Carol Wilson in the production, which opens next Saturday at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, Canada.

Voigt is scheduled to sing the Marschallin at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Germany three times in January and at the Vienna State Opera five times in May.
