What’s with the truck turned gas hog?

I’m struggling to find redeeming qualities in Bob Greer’s former brush crew truck [“Bob’s Big Boy,” Oct. 12]. It gets 8 miles per gallon, rides rough, has 11 back seats (which aren’t used) and limited storage room (which requires the addition of six roof boxes). I don’t get it, unless a misguided concept of “cool” was the sole objective.
