Group to Press Suit Targeting DWP Rates
From Times Staff Reports
A group of Los Angeles residents announced Monday that it would press forward with a lawsuit challenging the Department of Water and Power’s 11% water rate increase.
The city has denied the group’s claim.
State Sen. Richard Alarcon (D-Sun Valley) said the group, which he is working with, would continue to collect signatures on petitions calling for a rollback of the rates. So far, 800 people have signed the petition, he said. “We are not discouraged whatsoever,” said Alarcon, a candidate for mayor.
