Town Council Votes to Keep Police Force

Bucking a trend that has seen the consolidation of police agencies throughout Marin County, the town of Ross is keeping its local police force.
Ross’ Town Council voted unanimously Monday night against a Sheriff’s Department proposal that would have eliminated the small police force in a cost-saving move and given law enforcement duties to the sheriff.
More than 100 people jammed into the tiny council chambers, and not a single person spoke in favor of eliminating the police department.
