Storm Inundates Second-Largest City

Ireland’s second-largest city, Cork, suffered severe flooding as the year’s strongest Atlantic storm dumped several inches of rain and brought wind gusts of more than 70 mph.
Water levels on several central Cork roads surged quickly, swamping parked cars up to their windows. Firefighters helped people who were trapped in their vehicles, and no deaths or injuries were reported.
