Seasonal Star Turns

At 27, Marguerite Moreau points out, she’s a tad young to be a Mrs. Robinson. But she’s definitely an older temptress in “Life as We Know It,” playing a high school teacher taking an inappropriate extracurricular interest in one of her students.

“I was happy that it wasn’t as if they didn’t know what to do with the teacher,” she says. “Right away, this is what’s happening. I love that the show is trying to talk about something real.” Much of that reality has to do with the sexual energy of adolescents. “They feel like real teenage boys and the planet they operate on,” Moreau says from Vancouver. “It’s almost like you’re peeping.”

Moreau began acting while a teenager, appearing in all three of the “Mighty Ducks” movies. She then earned a degree in public policy at Vassar before returning to professional acting.

She’s not much older than the actors playing her charges, so there has been something of a trickle-down effect in their off-camera relationship.

“I like to boss people around,” Moreau says with a laugh, so the authority-figure role “is playing well into that part of my personality. When the boys congregate in their little group and I’m like, ‘Hi, guys,’ they don’t really know what to do. They’ve started quoting lines from the deleted scenes on the DVD for ‘American Summer’ to see if I’ll know it, and they’ll get real mad at me if I don’t.”
