A SWAT team stormed the Bay County Jail in Panama City to end an 11-hour hostage standoff, shooting one hostage and two inmates, authorities said. Three other employees were freed unharmed.

The injured hostage was a nurse who was shot twice by the SWAT team in the upper and lower body, said Bay County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ruth Sasser. She said the woman underwent surgery and was in stable condition.

Kevin Nix and James Norton, the inmates who were shot, were treated and put into lockdown.
