Woman Becomes State’s 13th West Nile Fatality

A Los Angeles County woman has become the 13th Californian to die of West Nile virus, officials said Friday. Information about the 69-year-old victim was not disclosed.
To date, 186 county residents have reportedly been infected with the mosquito-borne illness. However, the rate of infection has slowed and is expected to decrease further with the beginning of fall, said Mike Shaw of the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District.
