Gasoline Prices Drop in California, Most of U.S.

Retail gasoline prices fell in California and most of the nation as recent oil price declines hit the pump, a federal survey showed.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in California decreased 2 cents to $2.053 a gallon in the last week, according to the Energy Information Administration, which conducts a weekly survey of service stations.
The U.S. average slipped nearly half a cent to $1.846 a gallon, the agency said. Prices dropped in every region but the Midwest, where the average rose a penny to $1.803 a gallon.
The California average is 1.9 cents above the price a year earlier; the U.S. average is 14.9 cents above the year-earlier level.
