EBay Drops Plan to Close Half.com

From Bloomberg News

EBay Inc. said it would not close Half.com next month as planned because the parent company could not get enough of the unit’s users to transfer their business to the main auction site.

Half.com, which gained attention four years ago by getting the town of Halfway, Ore., to adopt the company’s name for a year, will remain open indefinitely, EBay said.

EBay persuaded more than 1,000 of the top 5,000 sellers on Half.com to transfer sales to EBay.com as it introduced features that were similar to those found on Half.com, Durzy said.
