Barberie says she was fired

Jillian Barberie, who in June said that her departure as co-host of the syndicated “Good Day Live” was a mutual decision between her and the show’s producers, said Monday she was actually fired from the talk show.

Barberie told nationally syndicated radio host Howard Stern that Dorothy Lucey, the other female co-host of “Good Day Live,” was also fired last month from the show, which was designed as a national edition of “Good Day L.A,” the two-hour local morning news show that airs on Fox’s KTTV Channel 11.

Although Barberie said she had not been entirely satisfied with her role on “Good Day Live,” the ouster caught her by surprise. She compared herself to a woman planning to break up with a boyfriend, only to be dumped first.

Her comments also contradicted earlier statements from Twentieth Television, which denied that Barberie had been fired. Twentieth executives on Monday said they stood by their previous statements.

Lucey could not be reached for comment.

In August, Debbie Matenopoulos and Arthel Neville took over hosting duties on “Good Day Live,” where they appear along with Steve Edwards. Barberie and Lucey still co-host “Good Day L.A.” with Edwards.
