UCLA’s Drake Stadium will have an Olympic feel beginning today when several gold medalists compete in the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational.

Starting with today’s invitational hammer competition, the meet will feature many elite track and field athletes, including 2004 Athens Games gold-medal winners Felix Sanchez (400-meter hurdles), Joanna Hayes (100-meter hurdles) and Monique Henderson (1,600-meter relay).

The three-day meet will feature university and open events on Friday and will be capped by an evening distance carnival session starting at 6. Among the schools competing against the Bruins will be Stanford, Arizona, Brigham Young, Illinois, Utah State and Hawaii.

Another matchup to watch will be Hayes and Henderson competing in the 100 and 200 meters.

A ceremony will be held on Saturday to honor Johnson and Joyner-Kersee.
