Funeral ratings: Despite it being broadcast in the middle of the night here, an estimated 9.2 million people in the United States watched live coverage of the funeral of Pope John Paul II last Friday, Nielsen Media Research reported Tuesday. Viewing was spread over 10 channels, it said.

On hiatus: Tracks, a 16-month-old magazine aimed at music fans over the age of 30, has suspended operations, saying it was short of the cash resources needed to push circulation from the current 150,000 level to the 250,000 it said it needed to “sustain profitability.” Management said it would pursue new financing in hopes of relaunching the publication.
