Mexican Radio Reporter Dies of Gunshot Wounds
A radio reporter who was riddled with bullets nearly two weeks ago outside a radio station here died of her injuries Saturday, authorities said.
Guadalupe Garcia Escamilla, 39, had been hospitalized since being wounded in the chest, abdomen, legs and arms during the April 5 attack in this city across the border from Laredo, Texas.
The Tamaulipas state attorney general’s office announced her death in a written statement.
Garcia Escamilla had received threats before she was shot, and federal prosecutors suspect that the attack was the work of drug traffickers.
Atty. Gen. Rafael Macedo de la Concha said Thursday that his office would be taking over Garcia Escamilla’s case. No arrests have been made.
