Teen Runaway Found in Missouri Town
A 14-year-old girl who authorities say ran away from her home in the Sacramento suburbs more than two weeks ago was found in good condition in rural Missouri after hitching rides with truckers, police said.
Ashleigh Markley was found in Versailles, Mo., about 40 miles southwest of Jefferson City, where she was staying with the family of a man she met at a truck stop. The man’s family contacted police after hearing that Markley had been reported missing.
“She was there of her own free will and is considered a runaway,” Citrus Heights Police Chief Bob Landry said.
