Drunk Driving Charge Hinted in O.C. Fatality
A 30-year-old Laguna Niguel man was killed late Sunday when the car in which he was riding with an allegedly drunk driver hit an oncoming car, officials said Monday.
Police did not release the man’s name but said they were considering criminal charges against the driver, Mary Werner, 24, of Monrovia, who was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo with broken ribs and punctured lungs.
Officials said Werner was driving north on Laguna Canyon Road about 10 p.m. Sunday when she drifted into southbound lanes and struck a 2004 Toyota Prius. Its driver and passenger were taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana with moderate injuries, officials said.
