Update -- Chivas began Major League Soccer play with a 2-0 loss to D.C. United on April 2 at the Home Depot Center on what defender Ryan Suarez called “two of the softest goals I’ve ever seen” -- scores from Josh Gros and Christian Gomez. Suarez was later cut from the team after a verbal confrontation with Coach Hans Westerhof. Chivas will be without two starters who were injured in its 1-0 loss Wednesday to the Galaxy in front of 88,816 at the Coliseum -- forward Thiago Martins (ankle) and defender Ezra Hendrickson (leg). Rookie defender Esteban Arias is also out (suspension). It will be the first match that Hendrickson, 33, has sat out this season. The nine-year veteran has played in a team-leading 1,935 minutes, missing only 45 minutes. Chivas’ last three MLS losses have been by one goal. D.C. United has a five-game unbeaten streak -- having won three in a row -- but will be without suspended forward Jaime Moreno and injured forwards Freddy Adu (knee) and Alecko Eskandarian (concussion).
