Staind debuts at No. 1 again

IN a week with few high-profile new releases, Staind’s “Chapter V” captured the No. 1 spot on the national album chart by selling 185,000 copies in its first week in stores, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It’s the third consecutive album by the rock band to enter the chart at No. 1.

No other new release sold more than 50,000 copies last week.

Nickel Creek’s “Why Should the Fire Die?” entered the chart at No. 17 with first-week sales of 42,000, while Michael McDonald’s “Ultimate Collection” debuted at No. 19 with sales of 40,000.

Faith Hill’s “Fireflies,” which entered the chart at No. 1 last week after selling 329,000 copies in its first week, fell to No. 3 as sales of the country-pop collection fell to 124,000 in its second week in stores.

Volume 19 in the hit compilation series “Now That’s What I Call Music!” holds its No. 2 position on the chart, thanks to sales of 161,000 copies last week. That pushes the album’s four-week total to 1 million.
