Plan Is Rejected for New State Energy Agency

Share

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s effort to streamline the state’s “alphabet soup” of energy agencies met an expected death on a bipartisan vote of the state Senate Energy Committee.

Schwarzenegger’s top energy aide, Joseph Desmond, promised to introduce soon a bill containing a revamped government reorganization plan to create a Cabinet-level energy agency that would coordinate work to avoid future energy crises.

Lawmakers, however, cautioned that they doubted such a complex plan could be acted upon with just 18 days left in the annual legislative session.
