Wynn takes ‘Avenue Q’ to the Strip

Las Vegas

Sept. 9. (ongoing): When Wynn Las Vegas snagged the Broadway hit “Avenue Q,” the resort built a 1,200-seat theater especially for it. Now the musical is opening there for an indefinite run, skipping a national tour. The characters in this triple-Tony-winning show may look as though they sauntered off “Sesame Street,” but they deal with mature themes -- disillusionment, gender confusion and racism, for example -- with catchy music and R-rated language. In Vegas! Imagine.

Wynn Las Vegas, 3131 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, NV 89109; (702) 770-9966, www.wynnlasvegas.com. Tuesdays-Saturdays, 6:30 and 10 p.m. Tickets $88 and $99.

Port Angeles, Wash.

Oct. 8-9: A circus tent on Port Angeles’ City Pier anchors the fourth annual Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival. Last year, 8,000 people went to chow down on freshly caught shellfish and salmon, taste Olympic Peninsula wines, watch cooking demonstrations, browse items made from lavender and other locally grown crops, and participate in the catch-your-own Grab a Crab Derby. Go hungry.
