No. 1 Duke Keeps Rolling

J.J. Redick scored 24 points, Shelden Williams had 20 and No. 1 Duke prepared for its showdown against No. 2 Texas with a 72-59 victory over Pennsylvania on Wednesday at Durham, N.C.

Sean Dockery had 11 points for the Blue Devils (8-0), who travel to East Rutherford, N.J., on Saturday to meet Texas (8-0). The Quakers dropped to 3-3.

No. 17 Nevada 78, UC Davis 51 -- Marcelus Kemp scored 19 points, including 10 in a row late in the game, and the Wolf Pack (6-0) continued its hot start with a victory at Reno.

Nevada is off to its best start since the 1951-52 team opened 14-0. The Aggies fell to 1-5.

No. 21 Maryland 87, Western Carolina 57 -- Travis Garrison had 23 points and 14 rebounds at College Park, Md., and the Terrapins (6-2) pulled away after leading by only four at halftime. The Catamounts fell to 5-6.

Notre Dame 78, No. 22 Alabama 71 -- Colin Falls scored 24 points, and the Fighting Irish (3-2) went eight for nine from the free-throw line over the final three minutes in an upset of the Crimson Tide (4-2) at Tuscaloosa, Ala.

No. 23 North Carolina 75, St. Louis 63 -- Freshman Tyler Hansbrough scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half to lead the Tar Heels (5-1) past the pesky Billikens (3-3) at Chapel Hill, N.C.

WOMEN

Candace Parker scored 14 points, and No. 1 Tennessee (8-0) held George Washington (2-3) scoreless for 8 1/2 minutes in the second half en route to a 59-43 victory at Washington.

Jessica Dickson scored a season-high 35 points to lead South Florida (6-1) to a 79-77 overtime victory against No. 11 DePaul (7-1) at Tampa, Fla.

Liz Shimek scored a career-high 29 points to lead No. 13 Michigan State (5-2) to a 77-52 victory over Detroit (2-6) at East Lansing, Mich.... Jessica Smith scored 17 of her 21 points in the first half, and Stony Brook (4-2) surprised No. 20 Temple, 58-56, at Stony Brook, N.Y. The Owls (6-2) lost their second in a row.... Shona Thorburn had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead No. 23 Utah (5-1) to a 65-31 victory over Weber State (3-3) at Salt Lake City.
