Hankerin’ for the Deep South?

Southern comfort makes its way to Hollywood tonight, as folks get a sneak preview of Memphis, a restaurant and bar set to open to the public next week. Taking its cues from the Deep South (think fried chicken and blackened catfish), Memphis is located in a landmark building at 6541 Hollywood Blvd. that was a schoolhouse in the 1920s. Hosting tonight’s star-studded bash are owners Michael Sutton (The Lodge/Xenii), Richard Heyman (Table 8), Gonzalo Nieto (Mood) and

Gordon Bijelonic (of the upcoming Citizen Smith restaurant).... Sexy scene tonight at downtown’s 626 Gallery, as a slew of celebs make their way to photographer Melissa Rodwell’s exhibition on “Boys.” It’s hosted by famed cross-dresser Constance (Chateau Marmont/Roosevelt Hotel).... We hear Le Bar in Silver Lake is under new ownership, with plans to turn it into a hipster hang called the Cha Cha Lounge.

Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Haylie Duff scored free shades Saturday at Privilege, which hosted a bash for the Solstice Sunglass Boutique, a fancy place that just came to Century City. We’re sure they’re going to donate them to Katrina victims, right? ... Speaking of do-gooders, Bruce Willis and his daughters are hosting an event with Sony PlayStation called Band Together, a benefit for One: The Campaign to Make Poverty History and Habitat for Humanity. Such artists as the Bravery, Driveblind and Hot Hot Heat are on the bill Saturday at the Smashbox Studios in Culver City.... And Jason Alexander hosts a day of magic, music and comedy Saturday at the Magic Castle in Hollywood.... Speaking of “Seinfeld,” Jerry’s one of the burger lovers who’s been hitting the Counter, a joint in Santa Monica where you can customize your burger. Such folk as Colin Hanks, Kid Rock, Mark Ruffalo and Owen Wilson also hang there.
