Passenger Faces Charges in Alleged Cockpit Run

From Times Wire Reports

A passenger who allegedly became agitated on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu and charged toward the cockpit faces federal felony charges of interfering with a flight crew.

Passengers and crew members overcame Santiago Lol Tizol, 37, of Mexico during the flight late Friday and restrained him.

He was to appear in U.S. District Court in Honolulu today. He could get up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

“At one point, the man was threatening to harm another passenger’s infant in the business-class section of plane,” said Scott Ishikawa, a spokesman for Hawaii’s Transportation Department. “It got to a boiling point, where some of the passengers felt they had to restrain him.”

The Northwest Airlines flight had 177 passengers aboard.
