Sabres’ Biron Stops Stars to Win 11th Straight Start

Martin Biron made 32 saves to win his 11th consecutive start, and Derek Roy had a goal and an assist in the Buffalo Sabres’ 4-3 victory over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night at Buffalo, N.Y.

Biron extended his personal and franchise-best winning streak and became the first goalie to win 11 in a row since New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur in 2001.

Maxim Afinogenov, Thomas Vanek and Daniel Briere also scored to help the Sabres run their winning streak to four. They have won 13 of 16.

Jere Lehtinen, Steve Ott and Stephane Robidas scored for the Stars, whose five-game winning streak was ended.

Dallas goalie Marty Turco’s four-game winning streak came to an end.

Former President Clinton attended the game as the guest of Sabre owner Tom Golisano.

New York Islander forward Jason Blake was released from a hospital, hours after suffering a moderate concussion from a headfirst crash into the boards. Blake, injured Tuesday night in New York’s 4-3 home loss to Minnesota, will sit out Saturday’s home game against Colorado.... The Carolina Hurricanes assigned goaltender Cam Ward to their American Hockey League affiliate in Lowell, Mass., for a conditioning stint and said he would return Monday.
