Violinist Pinchas Zukerman is taking a break as music director of Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra to recharge his batteries.

The 57-year-old musician, who has led the Ottawa-based orchestra for more than seven years, will continue with his other scheduled engagements, including those with his longtime colleague Itzhak Perlman.

Zukerman plans to begin the sabbatical in January and return June 1.
