‘Cheneyspeak’
Re “Cheney Defends Domestic Spying,” Dec. 21
Vice President Dick Cheney says: “The president of the United States needs to have his constitutional powers unimpaired, if you will, in terms of the conduct of national security policy.”
I also recall his saying, on May 31, “I think they’re in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency.”
“If you will” appears to be Cheneyspeak for “if you’re gullible enough to believe what I’m about to say.”
