Owners Are a Big Part of NHL’s Big Freeze

Bill Plaschke’s statement that the owners of NHL teams are somehow blameless for the situation that is killing the most honest, hard-working sport in L.A. is simply ludicrous. The owners can’t control their spending habits.
Ninety percent of the seats were filled in the NHL last year. The real problem is the lack of a major television contract. This should have been the focus of the NHL leadership, that and policing the big spenders in its own ranks.
The onus is on the owners, not the players.
