Half of Home May Be Lost as Cracks Widen
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The owners of a luxury home atop a slow-moving landslide may lose half of their home, city officials said Saturday.
Cracks in the front and back of the home at 373 Ramsgate Drive grew to 5 inches wide as soil continued to erode from beneath the structure. Because of the recent rainfall, construction crews have been unable to shore up the hill beneath the house.
On Thursday, a city-hired demolition crew tore down a slide-damaged $2.5-million home next door.
